Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft) and transfer to hotel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, one of our representatives will warmly welcome you. You will be escorted to your hotel in a private tourist vehicle. During the pre-trip meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet your trip guide and address any questions or concerns you may have regarding your upcoming mountain trekking adventure with a member of our team.

Day 2

Fly to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) from Kathmandu – 35 minutes or drive to Manthali/Ramechhap (474 m / 1,555 ft) by shared tourist vehicle – 5 to 6 hours followed by a 20-minute flight to Lukla, then trek to Phakding (2,610 m / 8,563 ft) – 3 to 4 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Prepare your luggage for the trek the day before the flight. You will arrive at Tenzing Hillary Airport early in the morning and have breakfast in Lukla. Porters will meet the group in Lukla and are assigned to carry luggage, with one porter for every two clients.

Today we trek to Phakding. The trail is straightforward as we leave Lukla and follow the Dudh Koshi River downhill. The route connects to the Namche Bazaar trail just above Chaurikharka (2,713 m / 8,900 ft). Continuing along the trail, we pass the small village of Ghat and after a brisk hike, we reach Phakding.

Helicopter Option: You may book a direct helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for an additional USD 550 per person, based on a 5-person sharing basis. This option is ideal to avoid the long drive to Manthali Airport during peak trekking season (March, April, May, October and November).

Day 3

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) from Phakding – 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

After breakfast, we follow the trail alongside the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges along the way. The trek continues into Sagarmatha National Park, where your entry permit will be verified. As the trail ascends, you encounter steep climbs with breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas, glacial rivers, multi-colored prayer flags, and sacred mani stones. In the early evening, we arrive in the charming Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar.

Day 4

Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft). Hike to Hotel Everest View (3,880 m / 12,730 ft) and back – 4 to 5 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Trekking at higher elevations can lead to altitude sickness and other severe illnesses making acclimatization essential. The first acclimatization day on this trek is scheduled in Namche Bazaar, the main trading center in the Everest region managed by the Sherpa people. Here you can purchase trekking equipment, local handicrafts and find accommodations such as hotels and guesthouses.

On this day we acclimate by hiking to nearby destinations. The trek includes a visit to the Sherpa Cultural Museum where you can learn about the history and culture of the Sherpa community. We then hike to Syangboche Airport, the highest airport in Nepal, and Hotel Everest View, the highest hotel in the world, offering one of the best viewpoints in the Everest region. From here trekkers can enjoy spectacular vistas of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and other surrounding peaks.

Day 5

Trek to Tengboche (3,860 m / 12,664 ft) from Namche Bazaar – 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

The trail to Tengboche is rocky, descending early in the day before climbing toward the village. The trek follows the Dudh Koshi River, offering enchanting views of the surrounding mountains. We advance to Phungi Thenga, passing through a beautiful rhododendron forest. Continuing further, we arrive at Tengboche with stunning vistas of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse. The journey along the Everest Base Camp trail rewards trekkers with breathtaking scenery including lush rhododendron forests, glaciers, rivers, and monasteries. Upon arrival in Tengboche, we visit the Tengboche Monastery and have the opportunity to observe Lamas performing a prayer ceremony either in the morning or evening.

Day 6

Trek to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,469 ft) from Tengboche – 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

After spending the night in Tengboche, we begin the trek to Dingboche in the morning. The trail passes through Deboche along an alpine forest and crosses Imja Khola via a suspension bridge. Along the way, trekkers encounter a wall inscribed with mani stones. Later in the day, you will be rewarded with a captivating view of Ama Dablam. Continuing the ascent, we pass through Pangboche and follow the trail leading to Imja Valley. Eventually, we reach Dingboche village after completing the final ascent.

Day 7

Acclimatization Day. Hike to Nangkartsang Peak (5,083 m / 16,676 ft) and back – 4 to 5 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

After the first acclimatization at Namche, today is a rest and acclimatization day. Adapting to the increasing altitude and changing environment is essential to prevent altitude sickness. Today we acclimate by hiking to Nangkartsang Peak. The view of Ama Dablam from the peak is awe-inspiring. After the acclimatization hike, trekkers can explore Dingboche village or relax at the teahouse.

Day 8

Trek to Lobuche (4,910 m / 16,109 ft) from Dingboche – 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Today we trek from Dingboche to Lobuche, beginning with a gentle climb to Thukla. From this point, trekkers are rewarded with stunning views of Taboche and Cholatse. Continuing along the trail, we pass through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and encounter stone memorials at Thukla Pass. These memorials are built in memory of climbers who have passed away and are adorned with colorful prayer flags.

After a brisk hike, we arrive at Lobuche village, which offers magnificent vistas of Nuptse, Lobuche, and Pumori. The trail to Lobuche presents dramatic views with Mt. Kangtega towering in the background and the sunset over Mount Nuptse from Lobuche is a breathtaking sight.

Day 9

Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft) and then back to Gorak Shep (5,190 m / 17,028 ft) – 8 to 9 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Today’s trek consists of two sections: first we follow the trail to Gorak Shep and then continue to Mount Everest Base Camp. After breakfast we depart from Lobuche, hiking along the Khumbu Glacier while enjoying magnificent views of Mount Nuptse. We soon reach the village of Gorak Shep, from where the trail continues to Everest Base Camp. The terrain ahead is rugged and challenging. Along the way, trekkers can admire the Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall.

Upon reaching base camp, you are rewarded with panoramic views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse and surrounding peaks. Standing at the base of the world’s highest mountain is an unforgettable experience. During peak seasons, it is common to encounter expedition teams and climbers on the trail. After enjoying the views, we retrace our steps back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

Day 10

Early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,555 m / 18,225 ft) and then descend to Pheriche (4,240 m / 13,911 ft) – 7 to 8 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Today we hike to the highest point of the Everest Base Camp Trek, Kala Patthar. The trek begins very early in the morning, offering a breathtaking sunrise over the surrounding mountains. Kala Patthar provides an excellent vantage point for incredible views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori and Mount Everest. Trekkers can fully embrace the joy and unique sensations of being in the lap of the world’s highest mountain. After spending time at Kala Patthar, we descend to Gorak Shep and continue the trek down to Pheriche village for an overnight stay.

Day 11

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) from Pheriche – 7 to 8 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

After a hearty breakfast, we descend to Namche Bazaar, retracing the trail we took earlier. Along the way, we pass through Pangboche village and continue past Tengboche village. We cross a suspension bridge and follow a forest trail until we arrive in Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay.

Day 12

Trek to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) from Namche Bazaar – 7 to 8 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.

The adventure of the Everest Base Camp Trek concludes today as we reach Lukla. After breakfast, we depart from Namche Bazaar for Lukla. As this is your final day in the Everest region, take time to walk around the village and enjoy the surroundings. Celebrate the unforgettable moments and memories created along the trails of this remarkable region.

Day 13

Fly back to Kathmandu – 35 minutes or Manthali/Ramechhap – 20 minutes from Lukla followed by same-day drive to Kathmandu by shared tourist vehicle – 5 to 6 hours. Overnight at a 3-star hotel.

After completing the trek, we fly back to Kathmandu. If you choose the alternative via Manthali/Ramechhap, it is a 20-minute flight from Lukla followed by a 5 to 6-hour drive to Kathmandu. For travelers wishing to spend more time in Nepal, we offer trips to popular destinations such as Pokhara, Chitwan National Park and Kathmandu Cultural Heritage Tours. We also provide outbound tours to Tibet, India and Bhutan. In the evening, you will be treated to a farewell dinner at a fine restaurant.

Day 14

Kathmandu City Sightseeing – Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

Morning Pick-Up: Begin your adventure with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu. Your knowledgeable guide will provide an overview of the day's itinerary preparing you for an immersive cultural experience.

1. Pashupatinath Temple: Start your day at Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the holiest Hindu temples in Nepal. Explore its intricate architecture, observe religious rituals and take in the spiritual ambiance along the sacred Bagmati River.

2. Boudhanath Stupa: Next, visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and a central site of Tibetan Buddhism in Kathmandu. Circumambulate the stupa, soak in the spiritual atmosphere and explore the surrounding monasteries and shops.

Lunch at Boudhanath: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant near Boudhanath featuring authentic Nepali cuisine and a variety of international dishes.

3. Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple): After lunch, head to Swayambhunath Stupa, perched atop a hill with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley. Marvel at the ancient stupa, spin the prayer wheels and enjoy the playful company of the resident monkeys.

4. Kathmandu Durbar Square: Continue to Kathmandu Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the historic square, admire the intricately carved temples and learn about the cultural and historical significance of this ancient royal complex.

Walking to Thamel: Conclude the day with a leisurely walk from Durbar Square to Thamel, a vibrant neighborhood known for its shops, restaurants and lively atmosphere. Explore local sights, shop for souvenirs, enjoy a cup of coffee or unwind at your own pace before evening activities.

Day 15

Bhaktapur City Tour and Return to Kathmandu Hotel

Today we visit Bhaktapur, locally known as Khwopa and historically called Bhadgaon. Located about 13 kilometres from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur is a city in the eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley. It is the smallest city in Nepal and also the most densely populated. Explore its rich culture, ancient architecture and historical squares while learning about its unique traditions and heritage. After the city tour, return to your hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

Day 16

Final Departure Home

Today marks the conclusion of our exciting 16-day Everest Base Camp Trek. One of our airport representatives will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight. We bid you farewell and hope that you will visit Nepal again in the near future.
